Here’s What Knowledgeable
Golf Readers and a Famous Author
Say About Country Club Secrets

“Golf fiction is a difficult and perilous area of writing.  Many have tried, few have succeeded.  Les Layton is one of the few.  In Country Club Secrets, he serves up a spicy spoonful of golf, sex and international intrigue.  The primary venues are the Twin Cities and Pebble Beach, each laden with poignant memories for me.  I enjoyed the book.  I’m sure you will, too.”

Dwayne Netland, Pebble Beach author and former Golf Digest senior editor, Scottsdale

“I enjoyed the book a lot.  It’s great story that is so well written.  The novel is one of those rare books I didn’t want to put down and couldn’t wait to get back to.  I loved it, and I’m sure my son who is a big golfer will also.  He can’t wait to read it.”

Bob Wieman, Corporate scientist, St. Paul, MN

“I loved it.  I really enjoyed the suspense and trying to figure out which characters you patterned the fictional people after.  I saw several people in the book I felt I knew.”

Tom Purcell, PGA Head Golf Professional, St. Paul

“I found the plot intriguing and suspenseful.  Being a mystery fan and inquisitive in nature, I found it hard to put the book down for any length of time.  Dan Brown thrillers and Sherlock Holmes mysteries are my main interests.  No, like others, I didn't guess who the mystery woman was.  That was a nice touch to the ending.  I also enjoyed the free golf lessons sprinkled throughout the book.  Coming from you, I took them to heart.”

Robert Ready, Minneapolis architect

“My wife and I took turns reading it to one another as we drove back from Florida.  Made the trip go by so quickly we couldn’t believe it.  It was sure better than any book on tape we ever listened to.  We didn’t want to stop reading.  A fabulous story with great characters.  I thought it would be excellent, but we didn’t think it would be this good.”

Tom Farrell, retired North Oaks, MN actuary, club champion and past president
